Lowes: “If it’s wet it’s a bit of a lottery”

Lowes: “If it’s wet it’s a bit of a lottery”

Once again Sam Lowes takes the fight to the Kalex riders at the Motul TT Assen in Qualifying.

Speed Up Racing’s Sam Lowes puts his Moto2™ machine third on the grid with a 1’36.633, one of just three riders below the 1’37 barrier. The fiery Brit has had success in the past around the Dutch track, winning the 2013 World Supersport race on his way to the title. Last year’s Moto2™ race was not quite as positive as he crashed twice.

Lowes has spent large chunks of the weekend doing long runs to fully understand his race pace and overall performance on used tyres. During the Catalan GP the Speed Up rider faded towards the end of the race but he is confident this will not happen again. Rain is a possibility, as always at Assen, and if this is the case Lowes has as much a chance as anyone.

Sam Lowes: “The others found a lot on the new tyre which I couldn’t do. In the dry race I’ve got the pace 100% to fight for the win, Tito’s got a great pace for sure but I feel like I can keep with him. I’m looking forward to the race and hope it’s dry, if it’s wet it’s a bit of a lottery. I’ve worked hard but we still need to work hard in Warm Up. I’m looking forward to it.”
