A return to the podium for Sam Lowes at the Motul TT Assen as he closes the gap to the leading duo.
Being just one of the three riders on the Speed Up frame often makes life difficult for Speed Up Racing’s Sam Lowes. While riders on the Kalex frame can refer to the data and performances of many other riders, Lowes has just two other riders to compare to. Despite this slight disadvantage, the Brit is proving that he has the ability and the pace to take the fight to Tito Rabat (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing) and Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport).
His pace was strong and consistent throughout the race, but the former World Supersport champion lacked the final step to truly challenge for the win. This result does help his championship as he now cements his third place. Rabat is just 18 points ahead of Lowes now.
Sam Lowes: “I think we're proving that there’s not many people that can stick with these two guys, and we’re on a different bike so I think we’re doing a good job. We stalled a bit at the start but once I got past the other guys I was running the same pace as Rabat and Zarco. I’m quite happy as we’ve been trying hard and the podium is good to carry on to the other races.
