Kent: “You don’t get points for qualifying…”

Leopard Racing’s Danny Kent missed his second pole position in a row in this afternoon’s qualifying practice in Argentina by a whisker.

Conditions had changed massively for today’s final free practice session and qualifying practice with sunny skies and hot temperatures at lunch time. Nevertheless, Danny Kent went into the timed session for tomorrow’s starting grid as a clearly favourite for the top spot after he also dominated FP3 this morning. The young Englishman delivered a decent performance during the first stages of the qualifying practice before he made his initial effort for a fast lap time at halfway point of the session.

Till the end Kent was the pace setter today as he smashed the pole record by six-tenths of a second, but after crossing the line Kent was dropped down the order by Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira by a margin of 0.050 seconds.

Danny Kent:
“I’m not disappointed at all because you don’t get points for qualifying. So I’m really happy to be in the front row again. We’re very well prepared for tomorrow’s race as our pace with new tyres and also with old is very strong. Regarding our tyre choice for the race we’ve a clear idea so this means we’re ready to race. In general I’m happy with today, but tomorrow there are the points to collect so I have to be aggressive at the start and hopefully then we’ll have a good race.”
