Marquez: “We felt good, and that’s the important thing”

Since 2010 Marquez hasn’t lost a race at the Sachsenring, he looks ready to extend his run another year.

A strong start to the German GP weekend for Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team), who led the MotoGP™ field on Friday having set a 1’21.621. Marquez also took the two practice sessions to test the asymmetric front tyre, using it for all of Free Practice 2 and setting his fastest lap on lap 25 out of 25 at the end of the day on said tyre. The Repsol Honda Team and Marquez continue to work on improving Marquez’s comfort on the bike having changed the chassis in Assen.

Marquez was the only rider able to dip into the 1’21s in FP1, but FP2 saw four other riders join him. The session was incredibly close with the top 15 split by less than one second. With such a short lap time the field is almost always close in Germany, producing thrilling racing on race day.

Marc Marquez: “I think that today has been a positive day. We felt good, and that’s the important thing. It’s true that there was a strong wind that made things tough for everyone. We followed a good working plan but we still have things to improve. I don’t feel completely comfortable, but we can reflect positively on today. The important thing for the moment is that we are going well, but I am aware that tomorrow everyone will get better.”
