Oliveira crashes out of German GP

Oliveira crashes out of German GP

Miguel Oliveira suffers a heavy fall at Turn 1 during Free Practice 1 for the German GP.

The crash resulted in a fractured fourth metacarpal in his left hand. This mainly affects his third and fourth fingers. Under local anaesthetic the fracture was immobilized with a cast and Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) will now return to Portugal for surgery.

Oliveira is aiming to return for round ten in Indianapolis if all goes well.

This crash comes at the worst possible time for the Portuguese rider who recently took his second victory of the season in Assen. He appeared to be gaining momentum and had been eating into Danny Kent’s point lead at each race. He currently sits third in the Championship.
