Nakagami to miss Grand Prix of Argentina with Covid-19

The Japanese rider tested positive for the virus on Monday before travelling to Termas de Rio Hondo

LCR Honda Idemitsu’s Takaaki Nakagami will miss this weekend’s Michelin® Grand Prix of Argentina after testing positive for Covid-19 on Monday, before travelling to Termas de Rio Hondo.

The Japanese rider took two further tests after displaying no symptoms, but both came back positive. Nakagami will now rest up at home before trying to be fit for the Americas GP next weekend.

“Unfortunately, I will not race this weekend in Argentina. I got a positive PCR test just before flying to Termas. I am really sorry for my team, sponsors and fans. I don’t have any symptoms and I am feeling good, I am just very sad and disappointed. I am hoping to be back on track in Austin for the Americas GP. Fingers crossed,” said Nakagami.

With HRC Test Rider Stefan Bradl already replacing Marc Marquez in the Repsol Honda Team camp, Alex Marquez (LCR Honda Castrol) will be flying the LCR Honda flag solo in Argentina.
