#GermanGP: MotoGP™ race guide

All of the essential stats and information any fan needs to know ahead of the GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.

  • Marc Marquez is on pole for the fourth time in 2015. This is the sixth successive year he has been pole at the Sachsenring – on the previous five occasions he has gone on to win the race.

  • Dani Pedrosa is in second place on the grid, which is his best qualifying result since he was second fastest qualifier at the opening race of the year in Qatar. Pedrosa has had six podium finishes from his eight starts in the MotoGP class at the Sachsenring, including four wins.

  • This is the first time since the Malaysian Grand Prix last year that Honda riders have taken the top two places on the grid.

  • Jorge Lorenzo is on the front row of the grid for the sixth time this year at one of only three circuits on the current schedule where he has not had a grand prix victory.

  • Andrea Iannone, who heads the second row of the grid, has been the first Ducati rider across the line at the last three races.

  • Yonny Hernandez is in fifth place on the grid, equalling his best ever qualifying result, which he had at the opening race of the year in Qatar. Hernandez set a new lap record on his way to finishing 6th in Moto2 at the Sachsenring in 2011- his equal best ever GP result.

  • Valentino Rossi, who starts from sixth place on the grid, was fourth last year in Germany, which is the last time that he finished a race and did not stand on the podium.

  • Aleix Espargaro is in seventh place on the grid, the best qualifying result by Suzuki at the Sachsenring since John Hopkins was fifth fastest qualifier in 2007.

  • In the middle of the third row is Pol Espargaro, just the third time this year he has qualified in the top eight places on the grid.

  • Bradley Smith, who is in ninth place on the grid, has scored points in the last fourteen successive races.

  • Heading the fourth row is Cal Crutchlow, which is his worst qualifying result since he was in 12th place on the grid in Qatar.

  • Andrea Dovizioso is in 11th place on the grid - his worst qualifying result since he was 11th fastest qualifier in Germany last year.

  • Hector Barbera is the highest placed Open Class rider in qualifying for the seventh time in 2015, starting from 13th place on the grid.

The MotoGP™ race at the Sachsenring circuit is due to start at 14:00 local time.
