Vierge replaces Cardus in Tech 3

The Tech 3 Moto2™ have chosen to replace Ricky Cardus for the remainder of the season.

The Tech3 Racing Team and Spanish Moto2™ rider Ricky Cardus have ended their partnership together with immediate effect after a difficult opening to the 2015 season as Cardus wasn’t able to reach a point scoring finish in the opening nine races.

The 27 year old rider spent last year aboard the Tech3 Racing Team’s self designed and built Mistral 610 after filling in for the injured Alex Marinelarena right before the start of the season. 2014 yielded some strong finishes for Cardus with a personal best of 7th place at his home Grand Prix in Catalunya as he worked tirelessly with Tech3 to fight in the top ten.

The Tech3 Racing Team fully appreciates Cardus’ dedication last year with only a limited amount of preparation before the season and wants to thank him for his tireless as well as continued efforts. Furthermore, the team would like to wish him luck with all future endeavours.

Cardus will be replaced by the CEV Moto2™ race winner Xavi Vierge for the remainder of the 2015 season. The 18 year old was born in Barcelona and climbed through the ranks of the domestic scene in Spain, before competing in the CEV Moto3™ class for two years and then moving up to the CEV Moto2™ series. Vierge is familiar with the Mistral 610 having successfully ridden it in the CEV Moto2™ category this year to a race win and three additional podiums in the opening five rounds. He now gets the opportunity to make his first appearance in the world Moto2™ class, at the 10th round of the world championship in Indianapolis where he faces the challenge of learning the American circuit but he fully intends to have a positive first race in the fiercely competitive intermediate class. The future nine races will give the young Spaniard the opportunity to learn the new race tracks for the future and also become accustomed to the challenging international racing environment.
