Lorenzo visits Brazil ahead of Indianapolis

Jorge Lorenzo attended a Yamaha event in Brazil as ambassador of the new Yamaha YZF-R3

Jorge Lorenzo returned to Brazil 11 years after race the last Grand Prix of Brazil, in 2004, and 12 years after achieving the first victory of his career in Jacarepagua, in 2003, while competing in 125cc. Lorenzo visited Sao Paulo, invited by Yamaha Motor do Brasil (YMDB), to complete two days of promotional activities in the modern circuit of Velo, near the city of Campinas.

The Mallorcan rider, who came to Brazil straight from California, where he enjoyed some holidays and hard training ahead of the second half of the season, took profit of his visit to serve as ambassador of the new Yamaha YZF-R3, coinciding with its launch in the ‘Carioca’ country. "It's an incredible and very manageable bike, especially in the corners. The engine is brilliant. Yamaha has done an outstanding job with this bike" - he said shortly after riding the bike on track, although he had already tested the new model in Thailand, few months ago.

On the first day (Saturday) Lorenzo attended the presentation of the new bike in front of more than 40 journalists from the whole country. Lorenzo was joined on track by the famous Brazilian rider and TV journalist, Leandro Melo. He enjoyed the virtues of a 321cc bike that incorporates lots of technology from the YZR-M1 which Lorenzo competes in MotoGP™ with.

On the second day Lorenzo played the VIP guest role in a special presentation of the new bike to more than 50 Brazilian dealers, where he received a very warm welcome. He spent time with all of them, showing the features of the new model and then got back on track, joined by TT rider Rafael Paschoalin. The day ended up with a photo opportunity with all dealers and YMDB management.

On Sunday evening Jorge flew straight to Indianapolis for the forthcoming MotoGP™ race.
