Espargaro: “The layout worries me a little”

Aleix Espargaro has concerns ahead of the Indianapolis GP that the track will not play to the strengths of his GSX-RR.

The Team Suzuki Ecstar rider will take to the track in the same special livery sported at the Sachsenring to celebrate 30 years of the iconic GSX-R road bike. Espargaro is hoping to benefit from a private test conducted by the team at Misano during the summer break. The Spaniard currently lies 12th in the standings with 44 points, and his best results so far this season are two seventh-placed finishes at Argentina and Barcelona.

Aleix Espargaro: “The race in Indy will be fascinating because of the long history that goes with the circuit, but it won't be that easy for us. The layout worries me a little because of the long straight, but at the same time I'm excited to get back to racing after the positive tests we did in Misano before the break. We had the chance of verifying and developing many things and at the end we collected much data for all the forthcoming races. We are half-way through the season and we have made big improvements since the beginning, the team is working hard and I am focused on getting some good results. My position in the championship doesn't reflect the effort that we are putting in and the improvements that we have made, we need a little more luck for the upcoming races and I'm sure that we will have even better results.”
