Kent: “It took too long to change for slicks”

Danny Kent left the Indianapolis GP frustrated after being caught out by the weather and finishing down in 21st.

Leopard Racing’s championship leader Kent was forced to come in change onto slicks after starting on wet tyres, but his team took over 2 minutes to change the tyres which ruined any chance the Brit had of finishing in the points. Kent still leads the Moto3™ World championship standings, but his lead over Enea Bastianini has been cut to 56 points.

Danny Kent: “Indianapolis was a great weekend in general till the race got underway. But these tricky conditions made it really hard for us. The main problem was when we came into the pits; it took too long to change for slick tyres. I think our timing was well chosen as I entered the pits alongside Brad Binder who finished the race in eighth position. We lost too much time to change the wheels. This is something that the team has to work on, just in case we’ll experience a similar situation in future races. Yes, of course I’m annoyed but we still have a good points lead in the championship so we just need to go to Brno now to recover some more points there. To lose just ten points here shouldn’t be that drama for us.”
