Zarco: “It was impossible to do better”

A strong finish at the Indianapolis Grand Prix saw Zarco extend his lead once again; he now heads to one of his favourite tracks.

The bwin Grand Prix České republiky has classically treated Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) well in Moto2™. In each of his three previous visits to the Brno circuit in the Moto2™ class Zarco has always managed to finish in the top ten, with a best of fifth in 2013. This is in spite of never being on the most competitive machinery, now in 2015 on a Kalex and with the ability to challenge for the victory at every round Zarco will be a threat and is once again looking to extend his ever growing championship lead.

With 199 points Zarco has a 71-point lead over Alex Rins (Paginas Amarillas HP 40). This is the largest points difference across all three of the World Championship classes and speaks volumes about the Frenchman’s incredible season so far. Even when bad luck has struck, as in Qatar when Zarco encountered a technical fault, he has still managed to salvage a top ten finish.

Johann Zarco: “We leave Indianapolis with a second place that felt like victory, because it was a difficult weekend at a circuit that is not one of my favourites. In addition, we managed to increase the championship lead, so it was impossible to do better. Brno is a completely different, spectacular circuit. I am very happy to go there and hopefully we have good weather. Unlike Indy, this circuit brings back good memories. It is true that in recent years the results could have been better, but this year with the team and the Kalex, everything is different. I can’t wait to ride with this bike on this nice track. I will try, if possible, for the win, and I am calm because we have the potential to do so. We must try to increase the advantage. I’m eager to start the GP.
