Antonelli: “We have to stay concentrated”

Antonelli: “We have to stay concentrated”

A second career pole for Antonelli ahead of Sunday’s Moto3™ race at the bwin Grand Prix České republiky.

Traffic again emerged as a major factor in Qualifying for the Moto3™ World Championship race on Sunday at the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic. Many riders encountered heavy traffic on track, forced to abort a multitude of laps. For much of the session it looked as though Danny Kent (Leopard Racing) would again claim pole position, but Niccolo Antonelli (Ongetta-Rivacold) had other ideas. In the final moments of the session Antonelli set a 2’07.667 to secure pole.

This is the second pole of the Italian’s career, his first coming at Valencia last year. His weekend in Brno has so far been difficult with several crashes, but due to the hard work of his Ongetta-Rivacold Antonelli has been able to return to track after each off. Sunday’s race will not be easy, Antonelli still feels there is room to improve with the set up of his Moto3™ Honda and will work during Warm Up to improve his bike.

Niccolo Antonelli: “I am really happy for the pole position, it has been a great qualifying. We have to stay concentrated as I am not feeling completely good with the set up. So, we have to work well tomorrow morning in the warm up in order to reduce risks to the minimum in the race".
