Baz: “I went on track convinced I could do well”

Loris Baz thanks his team after their hard work meant the rookie could claim the Open class victory at the Czech GP.

Baz struggled during Free Practice but managed to qualify in 18th. The French rider was then involved in an excellent fight for the Open class victory with Hector Barbera (Avintia Racing) and Nicky Hayden (Aspar MotoGP Team). He eventually managed to come out on top to cross the line in 15th and take the open victory. Baz (15pts) has now closed the gap in the standings to Barbera (20pts) to just 5 points with 7 races remaining.

Loris Baz: “It was a really tough race, but I'm satisfied with the result. We made some small changes just before the race and I managed to stay in the fight all the time with my rivals in the Open category. I can only thank one by one to all the guys: we found ourselves in a difficult situation, but everyone continued to work at his very best. I went on track convinced I could do well and the victory is the only way to thank them for what they did.”
