Espargaro: “I can't wait to get out on track and do my best”

Espargaro: “I can't wait to get out on track and do my best”

After a disappointing result in Brno, Pol Espargaro is keener than ever to get out on track for the Octo British Grand Prix.

An eighth place finish in the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic had Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Pol Espargaro hungry for more. So far 2015 has seen his teammate, Bradley Smith, best him on almost every occasion and Espargaro is not satisfied with finishing behind Smith and in eighth. Extra pre-race preparation has Espargaro confident of a solid start to the weekend, having a strong base setting is vital in the MotoGP™ World Championship. The fast and flowing nature of many of Silverstone’s corners should, on paper, suit the Yamaha well.

Silverstone has seen Espargaro achieve two podiums including a win in the Moto2™ race in 2012. With a 2016 contract already signed, Espargaro is aiming for a strong end to the 2015 season as he chases his first MotoGP™ podium. With 81 points Espargaro is currently eighth in the standings and is ten points behind Dani Pedrosa on the factory Repsol Honda. With Pedrosa now fully fit this will be a tough gap to close.

Pol Espargaro: “Next up for us is the British Grand Prix which is an event that I thoroughly enjoy and I can't wait to get out on track and do my best again. Overall, the result in the Czech Republic was positive as I completed the race in 8th, yet it is not where I want to be finishing as I know our potential is much higher than this position. We struggled a bit all weekend at Brno, but we have done our homework and we are sure that we can hit the ground running at Silverstone. I have some good memories of the British track, such as winning in 2012 in the Moto2 and also scoring a 2nd place finish in 2010 in the 125 class. Silverstone is fast, there's no doubt about that and we will be hoping to take advantage of the rapid corners, which should suit the Yamaha's nature. Therefore, I feel confident and I know the team will do a great job which will allow me to battle with my teammate for a top result at this race."
