Bagnaia: “This is like my home circuit”

Francesco Bagnaia carries extra circuit knowledge to the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

As part of the VR46 Academy, Francesco Bagnaia not only gets to train at Valentino Rossi’s flat-track ranch, but also participates in training days at the Misano circuit on a variety of bikes. With the track having been recently resurfaced, ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia belives this will give him a firm advantage over his Moto3™ World Championship rivals who are unfamiliar with the new surface. As he considers this his home track, Bagnaia is especially keen for a strong result.

The British GP saw ‘Pecco’ fighting for the podium before falling late in the race. Twelfth in the championship with 59 points, Bagnaia is the leading Mahindra and claimed his debut podium in the Moto3™ class in Le Mans earlier this year. With a strong base setting, the Italian is aiming for another strong result at his ‘home’ round.

Francesco Bagnaia: “I have been working really hard for Misano. Thanks to the VR46 Academy I have done a lot of laps here and that should give us an advantage this weekend, so I am confident we can fight for a good result. This is like my home circuit, and I am sure I will have a lot of family and friends here to support me, as well as the home crowd. I love Misano, it is great fun to ride and it has been resurfaced this year so with the extra grip I am sure the lap times will be even quicker than last year. I have seen the weather forecast and it looks like it is going to be a nice weekend so it should be perfect. The target is to be in the top ten from Friday and then to fight for the best possible result on Sunday. We have found a good base set-up for the bike that is working for us and now I feel much more comfortable on it.”
