Rabat: “We have many new things to test on the bike”

Victory the aim for Tito Rabat at the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing’s Tito Rabat heads to the San Marino GP full of confidence after claiming a podium at the British GP having battled treacherous conditions all race long. In 2014, Rabat claimed a solid victory at Misano in the Moto2™ race and a repeat victory in 2015 is Rabat’s main aim. The reigning Moto2™ World Champion is just three points behind Alex Rins (Paginas Amarillas HP 40) in the standings as the duo battle for second. Their fight looks set to go down to the wire, the lead between them having swapped each at the previous two rounds.

The stop and start nature of the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is vastly different to the fast and flowing circuits of Brno and Silverstone where the rounds before were held. In March the track also underwent significant alterations, including a full resurface and extra run off. None of the Moto2™ riders are yet to sample the new surface and will devote FP1 to learning how grip levels have changed. A recent MotoGP™ test suggests that times will be significantly quicker than last year.

Tito Rabat: “My feeling is good going into Misano this weekend. What will be interesting is that we have many new things to test on the bike, mainly with the front and rear suspension, and I’m looking forward to seeing how much of an improvement these changes make. Obviously we go into the weekend with the aim of winning on Sunday, but Moto2 is so competitive now that even the very small things make a big difference on track. Anyway, we will work towards the race like always and I think we will be strong this weekend. The weather looks perfect but, after the good race in Silverstone, I don’t mind if we have some rain.”
