Marquez: “I’m not happy”

Marquez: “I’m not happy”

Marc Marquez ends Qualifying in second, but with a deep and bitter taste in his mouth as mistakes cost him pole.

Of all the riders in the MotoGP™ World Championship riders, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) has been the only one able to challenge Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) through the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini weekend. Qualifying look set to be a shootout between the two Spanish rivals but Marquez was unable to improve his time due to several small mistakes during his flying laps. As with Lorenzo, Marquez opted for a three-run strategy in order to get the most out of his new tyres.

Misano, Phillip Island and Motegi are all tracks where Marquez has been unable to claim victory in the MotoGP™ class, Honda as a manufacturer have not won the San Marino GP in the last four seasons. Marquez will need to bring the fight to Lorenzo early in Sunday’s race, the Mallorcan has shown on multiple occasions that he is uncatchable if given even two laps alone. Having crashed out of the British GP, Marquez has almost nothing left to lose and will once again give it his all as he attempts to end the 2015 season with as many wins as he can muster.

Marc Marquez: “I'm not happy with the qualifying session I had. I think I could have improved my time, but sometimes things do not go as you hope. The important thing is that, despite this, we will start from the front row in second and we’re only a tenth off Jorge. Tomorrow I expect a tough race as Jorge, Valentino and Dani have great pace, but we will try to keep in the fight until the end."
