Antonelli: “I did some mistakes”

Antonelli: “I did some mistakes”

A third consecutive podium for Niccolo Antonelli with a third place finish in the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

The last three Moto3™ World Championship rounds have seen Niccolo Antonelli develop massively as a rider. His early years on the world stage saw him frequently crash when contesting the top five, clearly he had speed but something was missing. The Czech GP saw the Ongetta-Rivacold rider claim his first victory and since then he has been a changed rider, now able to consistently challenge for the podium and the top six in Qualifying. The Misano race was very similar to the one he won in Brno, a large group of riders all battling hard lap after lap.

Unfortunately several small mistakes and an issue with his gearbox saw Antonelli unable to challenge for victory again, instead taking an important third. As an Italian rider, the San Marino GP is a second home race Antonelli and even though he was unable to push for the win, the Honda rider leaves pleased. Monday will see the Moto3™ riders back on track at Misano as they participate in a day of testing alongside Moto2™.

Niccolo Antonelli: “It has been a fantastic day and a difficult and hard race, Today we got the third consecutive podium and it has been really exciting to be there in front of my supporters. Obviously, the victory would have been perfect, but during the last lap I did some mistakes and I didn't succeed in obtaining the victory. Anyway we are feeling good, we are very fast and at Aragon we will fight again to be in front and try to obtain another victory".
