Pedrosa: “I made the mistake”

Pedrosa: “I made the mistake”

Dani Pedrosa praises his team for keeping him well informed via the pit board, placing his disappointing result as purely his own.

Sunday’s Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini was plagued by changing weather, riders starting on slicks before swapping to wets and eventually returning to slick tyres. In circumstances such as this the communication between teams and riders is critical, in the MotoGP™ World Championship all communication is done through the pit board. Dani Pedrosa was full of praise for his Repsol Honda team and the information they gave him during the race.

Pedrosa was unable to see his board as he raced down the straight, missing his team’s suggestion to come in and pit for different tyres. This left the Spaniard with a distinct disadvantage as the other MotoGP™ riders already had their new tyres up to temperature and were settled into a rhythm. Ninth is all the Pedrosa could must having left his change over too late, continuing a run of disappointing results for the factory Honda rider.  With 109 points Pedrosa holds seventh overall in the championship, 19 behind Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team).

Dani Pedrosa: “Today was a very tough race and we missed out on a good result. The team did their job well, they had the bikes ready and I was well informed from the pits about the strategy, but I made the mistake. I didn’t see my board a few times going down the straight, so I could not see the team’s orders to enter the pits to change bikes. Now we have to move on and think positive about the next race in two weeks."
