Rabat: “I hope this chapter in my career ends on a high'

After missing three races through injury, Tito Rabat returns to take pole position for his final Moto2™ race.

Recent rounds have been difficult for Tito Rabat, injury ruling the 2014 Moto2™ World Champion out of all three flyaway races. But on Saturday at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana he proved that he’s still a threat, taking pole position. This will be Rabat’s last race in the intermediate class, in 2016 he will move to the premier class with his current team. In 2014 Rabat was robbed of victory at the line in Valencia and the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider is looking to set things right and end his Moto2™ career with a bang.  His wrist appears to be holding steady, at no point during the weekend has it presented a problem and Rabat feels he will be able to cover race distance with ease.

The final round of the 2015 season is a sell-out with over 100,000 fans expected to flood the Ricardo Tormo Circuit on Sunday, Rabat eager to take victory in front of the Spanish audience. One final win would cement an incredible Moto2™ career for Rabat who has taken 16 poles and 12 wins to become one of the most successful riders of the class. As always the racing in the intermediate class will be close as the pace of 2015 champion Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorosport) looks similar, but Rabat is ready to put up a fight.

Tito Rabat: “I am super-happy to have taken this pole position in my final Moto2 race. All the hard work to recover from my arm injury has paid off and I have to say a big thanks to my team as well because they have done a great job in giving me a bike that allows me to push to the limit with a lot of confidence. I can now look forward to the race knowing I have a great opportunity to finish my Moto2 career with a victory. It will be tough but I look forward to the challenge and hope this chapter in my career ends on a high note.”
