Pedrosa: “I’m proud of my performance”

Pedrosa: “I’m proud of my performance”

The season ends with another podium for Dani Pedrosa, earning him fourth in the 2015 MotoGP™ championship.

It was a steady Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana for Dani Pedrosa, the Repsol Honda rider rounding off a strong end to the year with a final podium. After Qatar at the start of the year there were doubts if Pedrosa would ever race again, now he has taken two wins and four additional podiums. Amongst the chaos of the closing roads Pedrosa has quietly gone about his business to end the year as the in form rider and will be a threat for the 2016 championship. Testing begins on Tuesday for the MotoGP™ World Championship as the grid prepare for a variety of changes including new tyres and a spec ECU.

Dani Pedrosa: “I am very happy with my final race of the year because the year has in general been very difficult. It was very hard to get out of the situation at the start of the year, the effort is known by me, my team and my sponsors and the people closest to me, When you have to take a risk with surgery like I have down and then come back strong it’s very hard to understand the energy you have to use to come back and be strong. I had to concentrate on myself and put 100% on me. It has cost me a lot this year but to end the year on such great form is amazing. I took a lot of energy from the fans because I had so much fun today, especially in the closing laps. I have regained feeling and I’m proud of my performance.

“The truth is that the entire race I have been too far away and I saw I was going to be third. I focused a lot on making the best for myself and while I lost some at the start I kept my rhythm and I have come closer. When I saw on the board that there were two laps left I wanted to try, I could not get enough grip at the end to challenge. I head home happy with what we have done; I have ended the season in fourth.

“It was a very competitive championship. We never saw the two rivals have an even battle between them. But they have run different championships. I was very happy on the podium, happy to recover and to me this is an end that deserves to be remembered.”
