#NotTooTall Loris Baz sat down with motogp.com after completing testing for 2015 to answer questions.
2015 was quite a successful season for you with many high points, did it go better than expected?
“Yes, honestly speaking I’m really proud of my season, coming in to MotoGP was a big challenge for me, and I’m happy to have achieved such a good season! Fighting for the Open title until the end was something I wasn’t expecting just a year ago!”
Having come from WSBK, were there any new tracks in 2015 that really stood out to you?
“Well, I had a few tracks to learn. In those tracks my favourite has been Argentina for sure! Austin was a bit hard for us but it was only our second race.”
How have you found the new Michelin tyres, do you think that being on a new bike will give you an edge over riders on the same bike as you have no comparison?
“I’m really happy of the four days of testing we had. Straight away I had a really good feeling with the Michelins. It’s another riding style for sure but I like the way my Ducati and the Michelin go together! For sure next year is going to be a close one!”
With no more Open class, what are you aiming for in 2016?
“With the new electronic rules and the new tyres the target is to fight for the top 10. Again it’s a big challenge but I think we can do it!”
#NotTooTall was a popular hashtag you used, but in Valencia you did have some problems fitting on the bike. Were the team/Ducati able to fix them for Jerez? How?
“I’m #nottootall I have always been sure of that. But it’s logic that the first time on the bike we need more adjustment than the others riders. I’m taller and the bikes are made for smaller rider, but in Jerez already we had a few things that made me comfortable on the bike. In Sepang we should have another seat to be more aerodynamic in the straights.”
Fans also had the chance to ask the French rider questions via Twitter.
@MelanieLeveau93 Why do you choose the number 76 ? #AskBaz
“I always had the 65 (I’m a fan of Loris Capirossi) before jumping in WSBK where Rea was using it. So I decided to keep the 6 and add the 7 in front which was a good number for me!”
@_raceyourlife93 do you have any ritual before you start a race? #AskBaz
“Not so much you know… I’m not so stressed before the race, I get ready in my motorhome, listening some music and having fun with my friends. Then when I get to the box my mind is already on the bike trying to think about everything I need to go fast!”
@harvster27 #AskBaz what is your favorite track?
“FOR SURE PHILLIP ISLAND! It’s the best track in the world for me and also one of the best place to have a track. I love also Mugello, Silverstone, Portimao, Brands Hatch and many others, especially the track with fast corners!.”
@Rimabakti what do you feel about your chance next year? #AskBaz
“I think we have good chance to achieve our goal which is to be in the top 10! We’ve seen in Valencia that the Ducati 14.2 is doing pretty well with the Michelin yyres. We have lot of work to do but I think we can do it!”
