Danilo Petrucci admits he made a mistake on the second day of testing at Phillip Island as he finishes in 14th on the timesheets.
Octo Pramac Yakhnich’s Petrucci, who topped the timesheets on a rain-affected first day, could not quite match his performance on day two in Australia. The Italian managed to complete 63 laps, setting his best time of 1’30.156 on his 61st. This saw him miss out on the top ten by just 0.164s and he finished 1.025s behind the man at the top of the timing screens, Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar).
The final day of testing at Phillip Island kicks off at 9.45am local time on Friday.
Danilo Petrucci: “It was a difficult day but we have to look at the positive side because the gap is not large. We used a few tires because we were not ok and there was no reason to try to set a time. I think I gave wrong indications to my technician and only at the end I realised where I could improve. The important thing is that we got there and tomorrow I think I can recover well because this is not the position where I want to be. I had little time to turn at a good pace, but I am sure that is the right way and I can stay more comfortably in the top 10. I realised the mistakes I made, and tomorrow I will not repeat them.
