Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Launch

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Launch

The Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS MotoGP™ team held their official 2016 launch in Madrid along with their Moto2™ and Moto3™ squads.

The MotoGP™ team, which consists of riders Jack Miller and rookie Tito Rabat, were on stage to unveil their bikes and livery for the 2016 season. This is the first time they have had a two-rider team in MotoGP™ after running just one bike last year with Scott Redding. Miller is preparing for his second season in the premier class, while the 2014 Moto2™ World Champion Rabat has made the step up from the intermediate class to MotoGP™ for 2016.

Rabat and Miller ended the final official preseason test in Qatar in 17th and 19th respectively, as Miller continues his recovery from injury. The Australian broke his Tibia and Fibula in his right leg in a training accident, undergoing surgery in January, and has admitted he is facing a race against time to be fully fit for the opening GP of the season in Qatar on the 20th March.

They were also joined on stage by Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Moto2™ riders Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli, as well as the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Moto3™ squad of Jorge Navarro and Aron Canet. On top of this, they also announced their plans for the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Junior Team that will compete in the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship, with riders Jaume Masia, Jeremy Alcoba and Alonso Lopez on hand to unveil their machines. The team also showcased their partnership with the Monlau Repsol Technical School aimed at developing the future generation of racing superstars.

Michael Bartholemy: “It was important for us to make this step to a two-rider team. For some years our intention was to go into MotoGP. Last year we only had one bike with Scott, it wasn’t the easiest season but we made a podium in Misano, which for a private team is something special. To have two bikes in MotoGP™ for a small team is also a special achievement and we can’t wait to get started.”

Tito Rabat:  “I am very happy to be here another year, with this great family and I'm looking forward to starting the championship. This year I made the jump to MotoGP, and at first I was very surprised about how different the bike felt. Every time I ride it I feel more comfortable, but this will be a year of adaptation and my aim is to try and learn the category as quickly as possible.”

Jack Miller: “I am very happy to be here with this great team in which everyone has welcomed me with open arms. Today in the presentation we have official marked the beginning of this new adventure. At the moment it is difficult to talk about goals. We are working hard with the team to improve the bike and, personally, I'm working hard to be fit. Now it's a case of waiting for the first race to see where we are and well we can do. We will certainly give it our best.”
