Rossi: “Finally we start talking about racing!”

Winter is over and racing is here and Valentino Rossi couldn’t be more excited about returning to the track.

After battling for the 2015 MotoGP™ World Championship with his Movistar Yamaha MotoGP teammate till the last race of the year, Valentino Rossi heads into 2016 with even more vigour and focus. ‘The Doctor’ might be the oldest rider on the grid, but he’s still as hungry as ever for victory. A raft of rule changes have presented Rossi and the rest of the grid with a new challenge to overcome, the Italian working hard during testing to gather as much data as he could for the coming season. A spec ECU and electronics package as well as brand new Michelin tyres have levelled the playing, the new electronics emphasising the rider more than in previous years. Rossi has always been praised for his ability to manage electronics and change maps during a race, a talent that will hold him in good standing for the coming season, as adaptive electronics become a thing of the past.

2015’s Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar saw Rossi take a thrilling victory, while he remains unsure as to whether he can repeat the performance in 2016, Rossi knows the potential is there. Although he did not grab as many headlines as teammate Jorge Lorenzo during the off-season, Rossi completed an impressive amount of work and was able to maintain a high pace at all three tests. Many unknowns still remain as the MotoGP™ World Championship head into the first race, but Rossi is ready to face all challenges as they come.

Valentino Rossi: “Finally we start talking about racing! I‘m very glad that a new season begins. Our tests were definitely positive, but the race is another thing. During testing we've learned a lot about the new tyres and electronics, but there are many other things to discover and this first race will be really important to understand the real potential of the bikes and the riders. Last season for me began very well. I don‘t know if I will be able to repeat that result but I will try to get on the podium for sure. It will be important to start to work well from the first sessions and get ready and have clear ideas going into the race. I feel ready and motivated and so does the team, so let's go!”
