Disaster for Ducati as double podium slips away

Disaster for Ducati as double podium slips away

Andrea Iannone & Andrea Dovizioso crashed out on the final lap of the Argentina GP after making contact while battling for second.

The Argentina GP turned out to be a disaster for the factory Ducati Team after Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone crashed out with the finish line in view while battling for 2nd.  Iannone was later given a three-place grid penalty for Austin and a penalty point for his part in the incident, and his teammate Dovizioso was understandably gutted: “I am very disappointed because we work really well. We were able to finish second today. That would have meant second in the championship, one point behind Marquez.”

Iannone was also left devastated after recording his fourth DNF in a row: “For sure I don’t want this, I brake in the same point but in these conditions the limit is very close and I arrived a little bit hot, but okay. I am very disappointed for the whole of my team.”

Having seen his team miss out on a double podium, Ducati Corse Sporting Director Paolo Ciabatti said he will be discussing the incident with the duo before the next GP: “We will talk to both riders in Austin and give them our point of view about what we expect between them in the race.”
