Lorenzo joins COTA’s Garden of Champions

Jorge Lorenzo became the second MotoGP™ rider to join the Garden of Champions as part of the KiSS initiative.

KiSS COTA (Keep it Shiny and Sustainable) is a programme which aims to develop sustainable events by amplifying environmental actions. For the second consecutive year, the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) had the reigning World Champion add a tree to their ‘Garden of Champions’ to help raise awareness amongst society.

In 2015, Marc Marquez planted the first tree and now it was Jorge Lorenzo’s turn to join the garden. Lorenzo planted a Mexican White Oak tree with his name inside the garden and became just the second rider to do so.

The KiSS COTA is part of the FIM Ride Green campaign driven by FIM and supported by DORNA. Students from Texas State University are volunteering at COTA this weekend, spreading sustainable messages and asking fans to write their environmental commitment on a leaf that may be attached to the tree of pledges. This year, the Circuit of the Americas is encouraging all fans to share a ride to the event, in an effort to reduce the amount of CO2 emissions.
