Italian Dalla Porta takes pole in Le Mans

Former Moto3™ World Championship rider Lorenzo Dalla Porta takes his second pole position of the season.

Lorenzo Dalla Porta (ITA-Husqvarna) earned pole position in the second round of the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship which is being run at Le Mans (France) along with the MotoGP™ World Championship this weekend. Kaito Toba (JPN-Honda) and Marcos Ramírez (SPA-KTM) will also be on the front row of the grid for the 17-lap race which takes place on Saturday at 16:30 Local Time.

Marcos Ramírez (SPA-KTM) dominated the first qualifying session at noon with a best lap of 1'44.683, followed by Tony Arbolino (ITA-Honda) and Enzo Boulom (FRA-KTM) just 0.040 and 0.079 slower respectively. Aleix Viu (SPA-Honda) was once again the quickest Moto3™ Production rider.

In the second and decisive qualifying session, which began 16:05 Local Time, Lorenzo Dalla Porta (ITA-Husqvarna) posted the first fast lap, though it was still well behind the morning session's quickest. With less than half an hour to the end of the second session, Dalla Porta was the first rider to go under 1.45 and became provisional poleman with a time of 1'44.514, with Raúl Fernandez (SPA-Husqvarna) holding second slot, 0.720 behind the Italian.

In the end Dalla Porta was awarded pole with the best combined time in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship qualifying sessions. His fastest lap of 1'43.813 was the only one posted under 1.44. Kaito Toba (JPN-Honda) and Marcos Ramírez (SPA-KTM) put up times 0.443 and 0.490 seconds slower than the pole position rider. Aleix Viu, 27th in the standings, was the fastest in Moto3™ Production.
