Lorenzo: "We gambled on the setting"

Reigning champion rues difficult Silverstone after P8 finish

3-time MotoGP™ world champion Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) is also a 3-time winner at Silverstone Circuit, as the most successful man to race at the venue since the championship returned to Northamptonshire. Despite his record, Lorenzo's 2016 visit proved difficult with wet conditions taking away track time and the Mallorcan subsequently took a gamble on setup ahead of the race - that didn't pay off. Lorenzo now heads to another track at which he has an incredible record, with Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli ready on the horizon.

Jorge Lorenzo (P8): "It‘s been a difficult weekend, because we couldn‘t find a good set-up that made me comfortable with the bike. We tried a different setting in the race that we couldn‘t test in the warm-up, so we gambled a bit on the setting and it didn‘t work. I could see the second group there in front of me but I couldn‘t catch them. All of a sudden I felt the bike was vibrating a lot, so I had to close the throttle and relieve the pace and I couldn‘t keep up the pace I had at the start of the race."
