Marquez: "The tyres drop a lot..."

Polesitter happy with pace and setup - but waiting to see what Sunday will bring

Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) put it on pole with his first flying run in MotoGP™ qualifying at MotorLand Aragon, and the championship leader equalled rival Jorge Lorenzo's (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) Misano-updated record count of pole positions in doing so - 64. The 2013 and 2014 world champion recovered from setup struggles on Friday to look ominously quick on Saturday - over one lap or many. With cooler temperatures a possibility for Sunday however, the Spaniard's hard front tyre choice for qualifying could be put more in doubt on race day, as could the condition of the tyres over more laps - but the gap back to P2 on the grid stands at six tenths and Marquez feels well-prepared for the race.

Marc Marquez (P1): "At this circuit normally my speed is really good and I always feel good, but yesterday we struggled a lot with setup. Today we improved the setup a lot. Even like this, the tyres drop a lot so we have to manage that. One positive from today was also that even with the high temperatures I was able to use the hard front tyre - but tomorrow it looks more cloudy with even the possibility of rain so maybe that will be hard to use. But with the other tyres I feel ok too, and I'm happy with the pace this weekend. We've prepared well for the race and we'll just concentrate on our garage and try to do our best."
