Lowes battles in the top ten before crash

Brit moved through the order at Misano before being unable to avoid a crash in a soaked San Marino GP

Sam Lowes (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) showed great pace in the wet at a torrential San Marino GP, saying the bike worked well in the conditions and he was able to battle, overtake and keep good pace. When the water level increased, the former WorldSSP Champion then lost his confidence in the front and wasn't able to avoid a crash - nevertheless having run in the top ten and shown good form ahead of Aragon, where he won last year in Moto2™.

Sam Lowes, DNF: “I can't be pleased about how the race ended, but on the track I was able to be competitive. I battled, overtook, maintained a good pace and the RS-GP worked brilliantly on the wet track. When the amount of water on the track began to go down, the front didn't give me the same confidence. I tried to slow down too, but I wasn't able to avoid the crash. Despite the result, the race is still an incentive to give me confidence that I hope to take advantage of in Aragón where I won my last race in Moto2.”
