Schroetter leads Vierge and Bagnaia into qualifying

The times were tight in Moto2™ FP3, with 0.5 covering the top ten this morning

The injured Marcel Schroetter (Dynavolt Intact GP) - despite a crash late in the session - was once again the man to beat, topping the FP3 timesheets at the HJC Helmets Grand Prix de France. The German’s 1:36.748 was 0.038 faster than teammate Xavi Vierge, with Championship leader Francesco Bagnaia (SKY Racing Team VR46) a further 0.053 behind in third.

Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) was the fourth fastest rider in this morning’s session with a 1:36.901, with teammate and rookie Joan Mir 0.191 back in fifth. It was a good session for French rider Fabio Quartararo (MB Conveyors – Speed Up Racing), he produced a great lap at the end to finish P6, the only other rider to delve into the 1:36’s in front of his home crowd.

Eric Granado (Forward Racing Team), Iker Lecuona (Swiss Innovative Investors), rookie Romano Fenati (Marinelli Snipers Team), Italtrans Racing Team rider Mattia Pasini, Federico Fuligni (Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2) and Forward Racing’s Stefano Manzi all crashed in FP3 – riders ok.

The stage is set for the intermediate class to fight for pole, and with one second covering the top 17 riders, qualifying should be a classic. Tune in for Moto2™ qualifying at 15:05 local time (GMT +2).
