Nakagami fastest from Mir in FP4

The Japanese rider, the Suzuki star and Pol Espargaro were split by less than a tenth

Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) set a 1:24.450 to head Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) by a slender 0.010 in FP4 at the BMW M Grand Prix of Styria. Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) was less than a tenth back in third.

The session was incredibly tight once more as we got a preview of how Sunday’s race might play out. The top seven were split by 0.266, with 18th fastest Iker Lecuona (Red Bull KTM Tech 3) just 0.9 adrift of top spot. Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) and Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) set the same time to finish P4 and P5 ahead of qualifying.

Jack Miller (Pramac Racing) didn’t set a lap in FP4 as it emerges that he’s struggling with shoulder pain after his FP3 crash, with Johann Zarco (Esponsorama Racing) sitting out the session as he continues to recover from Wednesday’s scaphoid surgery.
