Haruchika Aoki: the only 250 rider to have won a race at Suzuka

Haruchika Aoki enters the 250 race on Sunday as the only man on the grid to have previously won a Grand Prix at Suzuka. `Haru´ topped the 125 podium in 1995 on the same day his two brothers, Nobuatsu and Takuma, took 2nd and 3rd place in 250 and 500 respectively, all riding Honda machinery.

Haru, who is now developing the factory´s 250 project recalls: `With all three brothers riding in the different classes there was a little bit of pressure to do well. I remember getting a good start and just pushing hard at the front all the way. It was extra special because we had our own podium with the three of us and the celebrations are very memorable.´ Despite his fond memories, the 26 year old is aware that he faces a tough challenge this weekend. `At the moment I am just happy to have this opportunity to be riding in the 250 class with a close association to HRC. They are making many modifications to the evolution 250 machine and hopefully by the end of the season we will come good.´
