Jorge Lorenzo fit and ready for his debut in Jerez

Jorge Lorenzo will become the youngest ever rider to compete in a 125cc Grand Prix in Jerez next weekend after confirming that he has recovered sufficiently from a broken collarbone and wrist to make his World Championship debut. Lorenzo, who will be team-mate to 2001 runner-up Youichi Ui in the Caja Madrid Derbi Racing team, makes the minimum age limit of 15 on the day before the race and will be given special dispensation to ride on the first day of qualifying.

`My recovery has gone a lot better than expected and I will be 90%, if not 100%, fit in Jerez,´ the youngster explained to `My collarbone is fine now, it´s just a matter of building up the strength in my wrist. I am not feeling nervous about the race because there is no pressure on me – my only objective is to finish and gather experience. I have never been to Jerez for the Grand Prix but I have seen it on the television and I am sure it will be a huge party´.

Lorenzo has seen his team-mate struggle through the first two races on the television and admitted that it has whetted his appetite for a piece of the action. `The Spanish riders are going very well and I think the 125 class has once again proved to be the most open. Youichi has had an unlucky start and he will have to start producing results soon or else it will be very difficult for him. I am very excited about competing alongside him and hopefully we can both do well for Derbi this season.´
