Sharol Yuzy shares his thoughts on a tough start to the new season

Petronas Sprinta Yamaha TVK rider Sharol Yuzy is beginning his third year on the World Championship scene, and has endured a somewhat indifferent start to the new season. The Malaysian currently lies 21st in the championship standings having collected just three points from the opening three rounds. Having finished 18th in his first year in 2000, and a respectable 15th last term, the 26 year-old is looking to improve again this season and force his way into the upper echelons of the quarter-litre class table. caught up with Yuzy to get his views on how the new campaign has been progressing. How do you assess your start to the new season?

Sharol Yuzy: It's not been so good if I´m honest. I now need to continue working very hard in order to reach my aims for the whole of the season. Does the good start made by your team-mate Sebastian Porto put added pressure on you? $$$

SY: Sebastian is a good and experienced rider. I am not surprised that he'll out-perform me, in fact, he should be better than me. However, this should not be a burden to me, instead I will take this opportunity to learn from him, and his good results will prompt me to work harder. Are you happy with the performance of your bike so far?

SY: This is my third year in GP, in each race I will learn something new. So far, I am happy with the performance of the bike, and hope to keep working to develop good settings and also to improve my riding style. Overall, I would say that I am more confident now. You ended 15th in the championship last year, what are your aims this year?

SY: My aim for this year is to finish in the top 5, I know that it will not be easy as there are many good riders in the category, but I will work very hard to achieve this.
