Abe provides the calm amidst team D´Antin unrest

Antena 3 Yamaha D´Antin rider Norick Abe has enjoyed an encouraging start to the new season. The popular Japanese competitor currently sits fourth in the provisional championship standings after his best result of the campaign to date last weekend in Le Mans, a fourth place finish. Abe has already had three different team-mates this year, Crivillé, Riba and Cardoso, but despite the unsettling time his team has endured, Norick has produced a string of consistent results.

The 26 year-old is one of only five riders to have scored points at every round this season, along with Rossi, Capirossi, Hopkins and Laconi. Abe secured fifth in Suzuka, seventh in Welkom, sixth in Jerez and most recently kept up his excellent recent record in Le Mans. ´I had a very good race in France and felt good on the bike. I managed to catch up with the top group and was really hoping to get past someone to get on to the podium, but unfortunately the rain came´, he commented.$$$ Abe went on to add, ´Our bike always seems to go well in France. I was fourth there last year as well, but I´m not sure how we´ll do in the next race in Mugello. My target is always to win races but it´s going to be very difficult now with the 4-strokes around. However my aim is to get on the podium during the season´.
