Akira Ryo to race in three Grand Prix announce Suzuki

Akira Ryo will ride as a wild-card for the Suzuki team in three further races this season; the Gran Premio Marlboro de Catalunya, the Gauloises Dutch TT and the Cinzano British Grand Prix. The Japanese rider will race on the Suzuki GSV-R 4-stroke prototype, the bike on which he is currently competing in the Japanese championship to try and help further develop for Grand Prix races.

Ryo finished second in the season´s opening Grand Prix in Suzuka, after a memorable scrap with Valentino Rossi for first place. The Japanese rider revealed his delight at Suzuki´s decision; ´I´ve raced several times as a wildcard, although never at a European Grand Prix, so for this reason I feel like I´m about to make my debut in front of the whole world. I have some experience of the Catalunya circuit from pre-season testing, but I´ll be visiting the other tracks for the first time and so I wouldn´t like to make any predictions about my results. I´m going to be giving it everything, and I hope to try and gain a victory. I´m currently riding the GSV-R in the Japanese Championship, but I want to ride it at the highest level to show the potential I have in the MotoGP World Championship. I´m grateful for the faith Suzuki have shown in me, and I want to prove they made the right decision.´
