Haslam hoping for change of fortunes at his home circuit

The race this weekend at Donington Park is the biggest of the year for me and I am desperately keen to do well. Each Grand Prix is important, of course, but in front of your own fans you feel that extra bit of pressure to get the right result. I live about 20 minutes away from Donington and my father runs a race school there, so as you would expect I know it better than any other circuit. This means that I will be able to push the bike to limits we have not been able to push it to so far this season and use the feedback as a stepping stone towards a huge improvement in the second half of the season.

To say this year has been a disappointment for me so far is a huge understatement. Nothing seems to have gone right for us and I would mainly put that down to bad organisation. We have wasted so much time in practice sessions on problems which shouldn´t even exist and our development has suffered so much as a result that we are a long way behind the rest of the field and have some ground to cover if we are going to make it back. As I say, this weekend should be an important step towards that and I am optimistic that we can achieve our original targets of top ten finishes before the season is out.

I have also revised my own personal preparations and I have been training harder than ever. I have a new personal fitness instructor called Kurt xxxx, who also works with MX World Champion Jamie Dobb, and I have linked up with Dobbie for a few sessions. I have also been training with WSB rider Karl Harris, who has introduced me to pedal cycling which we combine with some tough sessions in the gym.

Hopefully my extra efforts will be rewarded with some positive results, and I would like nothing better than to do that this weekend in Donington. Last year I had an off-track on the 500 and just missed out on the points, so to score points here on the 250 after the season we have had so far would be a major boost for me and the team. See you there!
