Kagayama looks back on his first MotoGP stint

Yukio Kagayama´s first taste of the MotoGP World Championship ended on a crash, but the Japanese rider was able to show his potential as Kenny Roberts´ substitute at the Sachsenring. Kagayama qualified in 11th, but he was caught in a multiple pile-up during the race, with Kato and Gibernau, as they were fighting for 10th.

The Suzuki rider looks back on his first stint in the blue riband Championship : ´Obviously, I was kind of lost, as I had to learn the track and I wasn´t used to that make of tyres. Anyway, the mechanics gave me great support to get to the grips quickly. I ´ve been progressing all along the practice sessions and I eventually took a good qualifying position´.

Kagayama talks about the accident that put an end to his race : ´From the start, I was comfortable with the pace of the race, but when I lost some ground over the pack running ahead of me, while was in 10th, someone touched me and caused the crash, in which were also involved Kato and Gibernau. It´s a shame I didn´t manage to complete successfully Roberts´ substitution´.

After this first contact with the MotoGP class in Germany, the Japanese is now heading back to his home country : ´It has been a very positive and productive experience. I was so busy that the week went by too quickly. Now, I have to focus again on the development of the bike and solve some set-up problems. Anyway, I look forward getting another opportunity to compete in Grand Prix racing´.
