Max Sabbatani about returning to the GP fold

Last Sunday, the flag raised at the finish of the Cinzano Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland meant the official start of the holidays. Indeed, as the next Grand Prix will be race in Brno, Czech Republic , on August 25th, so most of the riders are now enjoying a well-deserved break.

However, the summer break doesn´t mean rest for all the riders : some of them are now recovering from various types of injuries, sustained after crashing. That´s Max Sabbatani´s case, who has yet to fully recover after a heavy crash in Mugello. The Forli-born rider expressed his view to motograndprix.com.

´I have to admit that I didn´t expect good results for the last two races. It allowed me to see how fit I am. In Germany, the race has been really hard. I´m very happy to have completed the 27 laps, even if it has been exhausting. My foot doesn´t hurt any longer. Pain doesn´t bother me as the accident occurred a while ago, but I´m not as fit as I was before the crash. So I have to try to focus on riding my bike without being totally fit´.

Sabbatani is now currently going through re-education and often visits Dr Claudio Costa´s hospital, who has been treating him since the accident. The Italian explains : ´Before the race held at Donington, my foot was too weak and Dr Costa told me to keep the plaster and to use a special boot. On his advices, Axo prepared a special boot, a bit larger in order to allow me to wear despite the plaster. Since then, I didn´t use it as my foot is now normal and I can wear the usual boot´.

During the summer break, Sabbatani won´t enjoy any rest, as he wants to forget this injury as soon as possible ; the Italian sums up : ´Training, going through re-education and getting ready for the next race´.
