Biaggi completes a perfect weekend in Brno

Max Biaggi took his seventh win on the Brno circuit, as he proved once more his riding style is perfectly suited to the Czech track. Yesterday, he already qualified in pole position and today, he clinches the Yamaha M1 4-stroke maiden win in the MotoGP class, and breaks the Honda RC211V winning streak.

On the second lap, Biaggi, Rossi and Kato increased their lead over the rest of the pack, led by Checa, Ukawa and Capirossi. The spaniard and the italian eventually lost ground while Sete Gibernau made a steady race to come back in the tail of Ukawa. In the mean time, there weren´t any changes for the front runners, as Biaggi, Rossi and Kato remained in the top 3.

With seven laps to go, Kato lost some ground as Rossi was trying to increase the pace, but his efforts were hampered by a technical problem. The italian had to stop in the pits for a rear wheel change, but the reigning World Champion retired three laps later. Biaggi won the race while Kato finished in the top 3 on his first race aboard the RC211V. Ukawa completed the podium, despite Gibernau´s late surge. The Suzuki rider took the chequered flag ahead of Checa and Capirossi. Jeremy McWilliams finished in seventh position.
