Arnaud Vincent misses the hat trick but closes the gap in the Championship

After taking two wins in a row, at Donington Park and Sachsenring, Arnaud Vincent could have enjoyed the summer break, but a few health glitches hampered his performance when the 125 World Championship resumed last weekend in Brno. However, it would have taken more to prevent him from clinching another podium finish, after a hard-fought race against Cecchinello.

´During the break I had to deal with health problems and this weekend I had to cope with angina so I was on antibiotics. I wasn´t fully fit this weekend, I felt a bit weak from that illness and I wasn´t really on it´.

In those conditions, Vincent could hardly have expected a better result than his third position, but he fought for the victory until the very last lap. From the eighth spot on the grid, he had a blazing start that positioned him well among the front runners and he took the lead on the second lap. ´I was leading in the early laps of the race, and then later on. I didn´t manage to break clear, but I was definitively quicker than Cecchinello´.

With a very competitive leading pack, the result was down to the wire and in the end, Vincent didn´t manage to demote Cecchinello from the lead and was also overtaken by Dani Pedrosa. However, the Frenchman can be satisfied with the outcome of the race - as Poggiali took the chequered flag in fifth, Vincent closed the gap behind the leader of the World Championship to two points. ´That´s exactly the result I needed. Poggiali wasn´t at his best, and he only has a two points lead now. This sounds good for the rest of the Championship´.

The Aprilia rider is eager to maintain this trend, and he expects to do so in Estoril, when he will be back to full fitness. Indeed, he will need to make as a quick a recovery as possible in order to be ready for what promises to be an explosive finish to the season.
