Gabor Talmacsi continues steady progress

After a mediocre start to his season with the Italjet team, Gabor Talmacsi seems to have found a second wind in the last couple of races, after switching to the PEV Moto ADAC Sachsen team. He has scored six points on the Honda, with 15th in Assen and 11th in Brno, but his best race came last weekend at Estoril, as he lead the pack in the early stages of the race. Unfortunately, all hopes of a good result were dashed when he crashed out of 4th place on the 6th lap.

´I try to be a consistent top 10 rider, and it hasn´t been too bad at all in the last couple of races´ said the Hungarian. ´At the start of the season, the set-up of the bike didn´t suit me. I´ve been working very hard and had the opportunity to test. The most important thing is the way I work with the team, they can find solutions from my feedback. There´s also the fact that I started the season with Dunlop tyres, and now, I´m on Bridgestone. I have a way better feeling with those tyres´.

Even if crashing in Portugal was a huge disappointment, Talmacsi hopes to keep on improving and he insists he is not thinking too much about next season. ´I´m very happy, as I only have a kit machine and I manage to perform. I don´t know yet what I will do next year. It could be 125 or a 250, it will depend on the budget´.

125cc, 2002, Gabor Talmacsi
