Andrew Pitt gives his first impressions of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR

Former Supersport World Champion Andrew Pitt got his first taste of MotoGP action this morning as he took to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR for the first time. The Australian had never even seen the Sepang circuit before his arrival in Malaysia earlier this week and found the going understandably tough on his first outing aboard a machine which made its debut at this level in Japan just one week ago.

`I am a bit off the pace but it is very early days yet,´ said the 26 year old just moments after dismounting the in-line four cylinder machine. `Obviously the bike has a lot more horsepower than I am used to and I am having a bit of trouble keeping the front wheel on the ground. The other guys know the circuit whereas I don´t, so I am just trying to get my lines and work out where I am going. I picked up a bit towards the end of the session but I need to turn faster into the corners and obviously improve on the exit as well.´

Before being whisked off to a post session technical meeting, Pitt added that he was hopeful of using this weekend to stake his claims for a full time ride with the Kawasaki MotoGP project. `Of course, my ultimate aim at the moment is to ride with Kawasaki in 2003, so hopefully I can contribute to that this weekend´.
