Abe careful on his Yamaha M1 debut

Norick Abe made his four-stroke debut at Phillip Island on Friday as the Antena 3 Yamaha D'Antín sent an M1 onto the track for the first time. Abe is the third MotoGP rider to take delivery of the machine in the last week, with Shinya Nakano and Olivier Jacque making their M1 debuts in Sepang seven days ago, and was in positive mood after one day in control.

´It is a huge change,´ commented the Japanese rider with an air of understatement. `The engine character is completely different between the two-stroke and the four-stroke and I need to learn the new bike step by step. On Friday we were changing the setting many times – so many pit in and pit out - and now it is better. We can start to work with suspension settings today´.

Luis D'Antín was pleased with his rider´s performance but recognises that he will require time to adapt: ´Norick is adapting to the new bike bit by bit and is doing it into the right way. We have to be patient because he doesn´t have much experience with a four-stroke.´
