Vincent clinches the title while Pedrosa wins the race

Arnaud Vincent clinched the 125cc World Championship title with second place in a race won by local favourite Daniel Pedrosa. The young Spaniard set a lightening pace at the front and was matched for all 25 laps by the Frenchman, as defending champion Manuel Poggiali failed to keep up with the chasing group and eventually finished way back in seventh. Pablo Nieto took his second podium in succession to provide further cheer to the local fans after overcoming a strong challenge from Alex de Angelis and Steve Jenkner.

Vincent becomes the first ever French 125cc World Champion after taking five victories and amassing 273 points throughout the course of the season.
