Harada honoured in his country

Tetsuya Harada, who recently retired from the MotoGP World Championship, has received a special award at a celebration gala held by the Japanese Motorcycling Federation in Tokyo.

Harada was honoured in recognition of a career which spanned a decade since he was crowned Japanese National 250cc Champion in 1992. In 1993 he began his World Championship adventure, clinching the quarter-litre crown at the first attempt. He took a total of 17 victories in the 250 class, moving up to MotoGP last season and finishing seventeenth overall with 47 points. He announced his retirement at the Gran Premio Marlboro de la Comunitat Valenciana which closed the season at the Ricardo Tormo circuit.
