Tamada to make Pramac Honda Team debut in Sepang

Japan´s latest MotoGP product Makoto Tamada will debut with his new Pramac Honda Team in official tests scheduled for Sepang on the 20th, 21st and 22nd January. It will be Tamada´s first ever track appearance aboard the Bridgestone-shod Honda RC211V.

The Pramac Group have reinforced their technical staff with the signature of former Honda Europe President Tetsuo Iida as the new President of Pramac Racing. The team´s place in the MotoGP World Championship is only assured for the 2003 season, after a deal was struck with seeded team boss Luis D'Antín for one of his grid slots.

The 26 year old Tamada signed for HRC in 2000 and has since established himself as one of his country´s top riders, finishing third in the All-Japan Superbike Championship in his first season with the factory, followed up by the runner-up spot in 2001 and fourth place last season after winning four of the seven rounds he contested. He also stood out at the Suzuka 8 hours last year, when he took second place with Okada, and he has one GP appearance to his name after taking 16th place in the 250 race at Suzuka in 1998.
